I’m currently bike riding along Venice Beach with two college besties en route to the adorable Rose Café. I can’t wait for this getaway to start my summer refreshed for all the fun that’s in store. Here are some weekend reads to help you get into R&R mode, especially all you moms who deserve it most.

If you can’t get to California any time soon, here are five spots to taste wine that aren’t Napa.

Rebecca Minkoff’s sample sale lasts through the weekend. Get a bag before the best ones are gone! My pick? This pastel pink guy.

The breakfast of champions–eggs cooked in butter with a side of bacon–is believe it or not, good for you. Nutritionists explain why.

Here’s a case for no more homework, and it’s pretty convincing.

These kitchen windows will get you in the mood for al fresco dining starting now.

Happy Mother’s Day!

In my world, wedding season seems to be year-round. Still, with back-to-back weddings coming up, they’re more on my mind than ever. This Friday, I’ve rounded up five links on one of my favorite festivities:

These iconic dresses still influence those of today. Whose your favorite?

Laura Mercier’s caviar stick is perfect to tuck into your clutch for a reception make-up touch up. But it now; the best colors sell out fast.

Go through this gallery for the most fabulous floral decor.

What’s trending for 21st century nuptials: geotags and charging stations.

And en vogue for a departure from gowns for black tie: jumpsuits.

Spring has sprung!

Stocking up on STAPLES | MEGA sale at J. Crew

December 26, 2016

fullsizerender-18

It’s almost the new year and time to stock up on some staples that Santa didn’t bring me. Just because Christmas is over, plaid is still rad for another couple of months and I’m eyeing this skirt and this button down. I also just added this striped sweater to my cart, it’s relaxed fit is perfect for hiding my post baby tummy. And speaking of post baby, I’m abusing dry shampoo a lot these days so a new winter hat will definitely help hide the bedhead. I’m still loving lace-up flats and this leopard pair is a steal and will go with everything in your closet. If I didn’t live in tropical-ville I would totally opt in for this gorgeous wool trench. You won’t find a chic winter coat of this caliber at this price. Ever. I can, however,  justify this cute wool hat and scarf combo for the second the temps fall below 65 in Houston. New year, new iPhone case and this metallic leather case has a holder for your credit card–perfect for times when you don’t feel like schlepping a big bag for a quick Starbucks run. If you still haven’t found a little something special for NYE, express ship this velvet cami in a hurry! And after way too many cookies I plan to finally get back into the gym again in 2017 sporting these workout leggings.

gift guide | for her

November 27, 2016

Ok, this gift guide may be a little self serving….it’s “for her.” You know the special ladies in your life–Mom, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc. And maybe a little something for you too! And thanks to Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales (find our sale round-up here!) most of these gems are on sale!

Some of the things I pulled into this guide I own, some are at the top of my wish list and others are just tried and true great gifts! I hope you enjoy and forward on to anybody looking for a little gift giving inspo.

I own this Daniel Wellington watch, it’s so easy for everyday and I love the unique ribbon strap and rose gold detail, plus the price point is awesome for a gift. I’ve blogged about this Cult Gaia bag and Rebecca de Ravenel’s le bon bon earrings a lot lately–both items are so hot right now and I’ll for sure be wearing them on the reg for a long time. I’m also obsessed with Mignonne Gavigan’s gorgeous pink earrings and these Charmed Circle bracelets that go with everything in your closet.

As far as GREAT gifts go, this Madewell tote is a no brainer. My friends ask me to send gift ideas to their hubby’s every year (this gift guide might be a great hint for your hubs!) and the Madewell tote has been requested a lot over the years! You can never go wrong with the gift of beauty and this lip gloss set is one of my faves. I’m also obsessed with Tom Ford lipstick (not featured in photo below) which is splurge which is why it makes a great gift, since I’m not as inclined to buy it for myself as often. Pink Dusk is my go-to shade and I swear it looks good on every single one of my friend’s who have borrowed a little swipe from me. Also, a new pair of on trend kicks is a great gift and these Adidas sneaks are having a major fashion moment.

And as far as gifts on my list this year, the Dyson hair dryer is getting a lot of hype. We bought one for my mother-in-law for her birthday and I’m super envious of this newest technology in the hair world. Also topping my list, a new pair of wellies, this light pink pair is a new color although I don’t yet own any Hunter boots and am kind of inclined to go for classic red! I’m always on the hunt for new sunnies and this pair looks so chic.

SHOP Small Business Saturday

November 25, 2016

I’ve never been one to storm the department stores on Black Friday; however, I am a huge advocate for small business Saturday. My bias may come from working for one, Biscuit Home, but I’ve always weighed my shopping experience heavily, thus I tend to prefer beautiful displays, curated products and getting the inside scoop on the people and passion behind small brands. So, here’s my favorite around Houston…

biscuit-indulge

Baanou – The most recent addition to our small business circle of this list, Baanou is located in the new River Oaks District. And I fell for this blue tweed knee-lengh vest as I’ve found Houston winter to by idyllic for vests.

Indulge – Tucked behind beloved Tiny Boxwoods, this small home goods and linen shop has expanded into the cutest French clothing shop. I just got these there and may have to gift these Les Toiles du Soleil bags for all the trips to parties with bottles of wine and to and from the supermarket during the holiday season.

Biscuit Home – Again, bias, but look at our holiday collection!

Brooke Feather -This clothing store draws its inspires from the West Coast, but we’re so glad it’s right here in Houston at the River Oaks Shopping Center. Carrying Jerome Dreyfuss bags, Koch clothing, and elegant jewels by Anne Sisteron, you’ll find something for every girl on your list.

Paris Texas – As for the guys, head to the new brick and mortar store for the Paris Texas Apparel. Made popular from their famous Southern tie prints, they’ve expanded into barware and leather goods, ideal for gifting to all the guys in your life.

Cuteheads– One of Lyndsey’s favorite clothing brands for her girls, is making clothing right here in Houston. We’ve collaborated with Cuteheads over the years here and here.

And last but certainly not least, a few of our small business favorites from around the web….

BURU– We are so lucky to call BURU’s founder, Morgan Hutcheson, a dear friend. She started a shopping destination focused on chic clothing for mamas during pregnancy, breastfeeding and well beyond from the carpool to cocktails. And with 3 kiddos under age 5, Lyndsey’s utilized BURU’s latest and greatest on the reg. Not to mention, Morgan just launched her own clothing line which has been wildly popular since it’s washable, inexpensive and always on trend, I might add. Check out these amazing holiday outfits, all under $200!

Mignonne Gavigan– Mignonne Gavigan, has been an accessories favorite of ours consistently on L. Avenue over the years. We love Mignonne’s signature scarf necklace (on sale!) and wish we could have one in every color. Statement earrings are also Mignonne’s jam and we’ve rocked this pair a lot lately. Stay tuned because we’re giving a lucky reader this pair during our “7 days if gift-aways” in a few weeks.

Freshly Picked-I’ve loved watching Susan Peterson build the Freshly Picked business into the cult favorite brand it is today. Check out the FP Marketplace on her website which highlights/sells goods from her favorite small businesses too which we love love love— Koko’s Nest, Hazel Village, Sproutling + C0, Madeline’s Box, The Posh Society, Bannor Toys and Covered Goods.

Speaking of shopper experience, there’s nothing quite as seamless as surfing online for all the sales that come on Cyber Monday. The only thing that can get in your way is that big, bad SOLD OUT sign, which is preventable if you prepare in advance on Sunday. Stay tuned for that then. Thanks!

This this quilted jacket is very reminiscent of Christmas with the Jackie O. I can’t not try this gem out. And this plaid shirt is perfect for the most wonderful time of the year!

Friday Five | Shopbop Sale Favorites

October 14, 2016

View More: http://traciling.pass.us/lyndseyblog2

When I really fleshed out my blog and added several pages devoted to all the parts of my “diary,” style was one of them. I called it my ‘Closet‘ and upon clicking, you’d find what I had freshly hung. I’ve taken about a four-year long hiatus from updating this, but in a dream world, I’d get back in my groove. Goals for 2017, I suppose. So, for today’s Friday Five, I’m showing you what I’ve got my eye on from the Shopbop sale.

Miss New Bootie :: I ordered a pair of Joie booties off a flash sale site months ago, but I’m now in decision crisis mode after being tempted by the Rag & Bone pair that rarely go on sale.

For Formal Affairs :: With wedding season in full swing (starting this weekend here in Houston!), I need a pretty place to stow my cell phone, some cash and lip gloss. This DVF clutch goes great with the LBD you’ll wear all winter and the sparkly number you’ll have on by New Years Eve.

High Neck :: Instead of the plunging necklines seen all over red carpets and runways these day, I much prefer making a statement with a high neckline. I finds it flatters the collar bone and shoulders; not to mention, it’s much easier to deal with. This cerulean blue romper would do me right on a Houston winter night.

On Trend :: Since working for an interior designer, I’ve developed an affinity for all the fabrics, so I’m very on board for the velvet trend. These would satisfy my craving for a fun-colored pump and I wish I had snagged these navy slip-ons navy before they sold out of my size.

Blending In :: Hunting season is here! Something I thought I’d never say. My boyfriend has given me buck fever, and I can’t wait to head to South Texas as soon as the temperatures drop. Until then, I’ll be sporting camouflage on my feet with these Rag & Bone sneaks.

Don’t miss out!

Sale Alert | Shopbop Friends & Family

October 12, 2016

View More Letterman Jacket: http://traciling.pass.us/lyndseyblog2

Hey guys! Tons of y’all have sent me messages about intel on the Shopbop Friends & Family sale and I wanted to be the first to inform you that it’s finally here!! So here’s what’s on my list to knock out now before the craziness of fall/holidays is here. In like 2.5 seconds.

Shoes

These over-the-knee boots are already a great price and then on sale. They remind me of the cult favorite pair by Stuart Weitzman but a fraction of the price. Speaking of Stuart Weitzman, I might have to splurge on these loafers. I’ve been searching high and low for a pair and these are the coolest I’ve come across.

This bootie is in my shopping cart. I love the color and price and it’s just a no brainer in terms of how much you will wear these gems.

Rag&Bone booties are never on sale. I’m loving this pair and these gems which seem to be invincible because they bring them back season after season. And I’m also digging this classic boot by Joie in black.

Sneakers are all the rage and Golden Goose the brand that celebs, bloggers and chicks who are into fashion are gravitating to. They are for sure a splurge so if you’re going all in, get them on sale now. I love this neutral pair and this statement pair.

And thees silver and gold sandals are the perfect metallic shoe.

Handbags

View More Zimmerman clutch: http://traciling.pass.us/lyndseyblog2

This clutch previously blogged here is still a top fave! I love the paisley pattern and red + pink color combo (shown above).

Im totally crushing on this Phillip Lim mini satchel and love that it comes in a variety of colors.

This soon to be mommy of three needs all the extra hands she can possibly get and this black bucket bag caught my eye.

Maroon is popular for fall year over year and I can’t resist a bold colored bag.

I am always of the lookout for fun whimsical clutches, this furry gem is the definition of fun.

Every wardrobe needs an evening clutch for those dressier occasions.

I couldn’t resist this Clare V. bag, it feels vintage to me and so incredibly chic. (shown below)

Accessories

I am currently obsessed with Lizzie Fortunato. The Fortunate sisters’ designs are so hip and different. These earrings are in my shopping cart.

This fringe collar necklace is a perfect statement necklace. Period.

Alexis Bittar is always a fave and these crystal encrusted panthers are conversation piece, and if the earrings are quite your jam maybe the matching bracelet is more your style.

For those cooler days ahead this patchwork scarf is a standout piece. I love the bold colors for those dreary winter days.

Trending

Velvet–these velvet pumps are perfect for fall and holiday parties too. Can y’all tell I’m ready for holidays this year?! And these velvet mules are $65 and come in 3 colors. Cha Ching!

Chokers–if yore easing into the 90’s choker trend this simple gold choker goes with everything

Brands-MY NEW FAVORITE LABEL I’m in all caps about Cinq a Sept. This label is soo good. I want one of everything. At the top of the list, this top. I think it’s super versatile and can be worn super dressy or dressed down with a blazer and pumps. This dress comes in both black and white, it’s so classic, sexy and sophisticated. Swoon….

Statement sleeve–I love the flared sleeve on this sweater, yet another big fall trend

Staples http://rstyle.me/n/b28puavwge
Equipment top lyndsey-black-and-white-with-leather-jacket-8

Equipment tops are a staple in my wardrobe. I wear this black/white striped button down (shown above) on the reg and this top is also on my wish list.

You’ll see a lot of this color this fall. This Vince cardigan is a casual fall staple.

I pretty much stick to either Smythe or J. Crew for blazers and love this gem by Smythe.

This color block cargo vest is perfect for fall layers.

Christmas gifts/stocking stuffers

Have you already started brainstorming about what you are giving family and friends for the holidays? Christmas seems to come earlier and earlier every year, but might as well shop early and on sale.

I love giving beautiful coffee table books for Christmas and a few caught my eye

The World according to Karl because who wouldn’t want to know that?!

This book captures the 100 greatest moments in Vogue history, so of course it caught my attention.

These nesting trays are a perfect stocking stuffer for your mom or sister or girlfriend. I love pretty trays that I can put on my vanity or around the house as accent decor. This gold set is pretty great too.

This thermal mug is perfect for coffee lovers.

I switch out my iPhone cases like it’s my job. This blush iPhone case is my favorite, a great girlfriend gift or stocking stuffer.

Holiday Party Attire | I love these two lace dresses by a new label, Likely. (this for dressier occasions and this dress could work from day to night). Another pretty lace number by Joie is perfect for holidays.

Self Portrait is still all the rage when it comes to dressing for the occasion. This dress is my favorite although my post-baby bod won’t be able to rock it this December. This top would be fabulous with a skinny leather pant.

Friday 5 | LABOR DAY SALES!

September 2, 2016

View More Rebecca Minkoff Dress: http://traciling.pass.us/lyndseyblog2

Hey y’all! LZ here. I’m filling in for Miss Molly, who has been rocking the Friday 5 lately. So what’s on tap for the weekend?! My sister, Sasha, is coming to HTX tonight and I’m counting down the hours until she’s here. I’m looking forward to some QT with her filled with pool time, yummy food and lots of belly laughs. She happens to be one of the funniest humans I know. Cheers to a fabulous holiday weekend!

Oh, and let me lure your shopping tendencies with 5 sales you can’t miss this Labor Day…

J. Crew | 30% off orders of $200+, 25% off orders of $125+with code SHOPMORE | I’ve had my eye on so many things from the fall collection. Mini bags are hot, hot, hot right now and I love this leopard print and this bold red mini. Speaking of leopard, every gal needs a leopard shift dress, right?! This one won’t fit me now but I’m thinking it will be a great piece post baby. I love this dress layered over a classic white button down or even a lightweight turtleneck sweater in  pretty much any color. This tie front silk top is so fab, I’ve seen a lot of designer versions of it and for under $100 it’s a great buy. These block heel pumps are fab and in fall’s IT color. Blazers rarely go on sale and this houndstooth is a preppy classic you need in your closet.

Intermix | Take an extra 40% off sale items | I, for one do not adhere to the no white denim after Labor Day rule. Love this boyfriend and this flare. This cape dress is fabulous. Loving this black and white plaid blouse. I’ve seen a lot of this bright pink for fall and think you could rock this with suede booties or sandals well into fall. These Rag&Bone suede heels are a steal. I want, I want, I want. The lace-up flat is huge yet again and this pair is the perfect fall go-with-everything shoe. I’m accessorizing with scarves every chance I get this fall, this fall floral is too good to pass up.

Gap | 40% off your purchase with code SHINEON | Bomber jacket, check. army green jumpsuit, check. Blanket scarf in the prettiest primary colors, check. Suede booties, check. Suede zip skirt, check, check.

Banana Republic | 40% of (almost) everything code FALL40 | For all those working girls needing a mini windowpane from 9 to 5, you’ll love this classic piece.  This funky army green lace skirt paired with this pinstripe bomber jacket is totally da bomb!  If you happened to take a peek at Lauren’s Fall wish list Equipment pick, this stripe top is totally your jam. If you’re diggin that stripped top, you might as well complete your ensemble with this matching skirt.  Check out this rockin’  steal bootie for fall, I can’t decide which color I’m more obsessed with. They are so similar to the splurge version by Rag&Bone.

Ralph Lauren | Spend and Save $  with code LABOR| Calling all of my ladies constantly on the go, check out this polished performance active wear collection by RL. These Harem pants and cool contrast legging have your name written all over them.  I’m channeling this quilted vest for my weekend errand runs. Despite the toasty weather, bundling up in this poncho has me dreaming of fall and the change of seasons.  Although this baby is not included in the sale, I’ve got this adorable army green wrap skirt on my mind.  Did I mention it’s reversible AND water proof?  What more could this Mommy ask for?
