Mother’s Day is just around the corner. In case you’re searching for a little something special for a very special mama in your life, we’ve got you covered with some of our favorite gifts. When it comes to accessories, I love everything by Mignonne Gavigan. Her pieces are so unique and beautifully made. This necklace is a really rad fashion and art collaboration. And the entire MG site is 25% off right now too!
English Norman’s personalized bangle sare my favorite monogrammed accessories that I’ve received since entering the Mom Club. And you can’t go wrong with flowers, a spa day or wine club membership (my fave!) for Mom either. Sign me up for any and all!
So we’ve scrolled the net far and wide to bring y’all some major gift guide action this holiday season. Here are all of the guides in one fell swoop! So go ahead and knock out the rest of your shopping before you’ll have to pay rush shipping!
If your inbox resembles mine at all, you’ve been inundated with gift guides galore. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve found yourself diverting from your original goal of getting gifts for your people and instead, pinning the perfect things for you.
So, today, I’m listing five things I told Santa I’d like in 2016:
luggage :: My mom has two styles of Bric’s Bellagio luggage, and I’ve always thought they were beautiful. I’d like my own–the carry-on spinner trunk size–in this gorgeous blue cognac.
slides :: The new flat alternative didn’t really pique my interest until I laid eyes on these pink suede ‘Kiltie’ loafers by Jeffrey Campbell exclusively carried by Anthro.
camo :: Two years ago, I was on the hunt (pun intended) for stylish camo gear I could wear even when I wasn’t huddled up in a blind. Now, the neutral print is everywhere, so I’m getting more selective. I like how subtle the camoflauge is on these Rag & Bone pants.
gold :: My Macbook has stayed with me since senior year of high school, so I usually stick to browsing blogs on my iPhone. I’d love a bigger surface to see all my favorite sites, and I think this gold iPad air 2 would do me and my eyeballs just right.
scarf :: In a light wool, this colorful CJW scarf is ‘everything.’ Literally. Seek and you shall find a few of my favorite things like bagel and lox and a glass half full of Pinot Noir.
Two weekend countdown before Christmas is here! Enjoy the merriment while it lasts.
Elf on the Shelf, are y’all in or out? Since my girls are only 4 and 3 we haven’t invited the elf to come and stay at Casa Z just yet. It seems like a lot of work and with a newborn in the house I’m honestly afraid I won’t deliver on the elf’s nightly shenenigans. Traditions are important to me though and I do think kids love the idea of having something to look forward to each day during the holidays. We did chocolate advent calendars last year and every night the girls got to open a new window on the calends. This year, a close family friend who happens to be the wife of the rector at our church gifted us an advent candle holder, so we’re lighting candles at night and reading that day’s corresponding scripture. And I’lll be the first to admit, this hasn’t even happened every day. But on the days we manage to make it happen, the girls are super excited about a new family tradition. One that even us parents can benefit from too.
Now back to more commercial Christmas to do’s. I’ve been behind in the gift department and think this year’s the perfect year to scale it back with a few really awesome gifts that my girls will love. At the top of the list are a doctor set, this colorful ukulele and this craft-struction box. Here’s what little girls are hoping Santa will throw on the sleigh this year.
It’s still surreal that I now have a little boy to buy for at Christmas time. This year, baby Jack won’t need much more than breast milk and cuddles. Although he’s for sure getting some cute new baby clothes and this starter sports set.
Lauren, our fabulous business development guru has 3 boys under age 5 and totally knocked it out of the park with the best boy gifts out there this year. Here is sometheing every little guy will love.
Ok, this gift guide may be a little self serving….it’s “for her.” You know the special ladies in your life–Mom, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc. And maybe a little something for you too! And thanks to Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales (find our sale round-up here!) most of these gems are on sale!
Some of the things I pulled into this guide I own, some are at the top of my wish list and others are just tried and true great gifts! I hope you enjoy and forward on to anybody looking for a little gift giving inspo.
As far as GREAT gifts go, this Madewell tote is a no brainer. My friends ask me to send gift ideas to their hubby’s every year (this gift guide might be a great hint for your hubs!) and the Madewell tote has been requested a lot over the years! You can never go wrong with the gift of beauty and this lip gloss set is one of my faves. I’m also obsessed with Tom Ford lipstick (not featured in photo below) which is splurge which is why it makes a great gift, since I’m not as inclined to buy it for myself as often. Pink Dusk is my go-to shade and I swear it looks good on every single one of my friend’s who have borrowed a little swipe from me. Also, a new pair of on trend kicks is a great gift and these Adidas sneaks are having a major fashion moment.
And as far as gifts on my list this year, the Dyson hair dryer is getting a lot of hype. We bought one for my mother-in-law for her birthday and I’m super envious of this newest technology in the hair world. Also topping my list, a new pair of wellies, this light pink pair is a new color although I don’t yet own any Hunter boots and am kind of inclined to go for classic red! I’m always on the hunt for new sunnies and this pair looks so chic.
With the awesome madness approaching that is the holidays, let’s take one stresser out of the equation now, shall we? The Christmas party wardrobe. I think the holidays are the perfect excuse to go all out on fun festive frocks. So, the L. Avenue team has been stalking the internet for weeks to bring you our favorite holiday party outfits. Today, we’re featuring our favorite Christmas dresses. These gems will have you rockin’ around the Christmas tree in style!
I’m “in between sizes” this season aka the post baby bod is far from my typical size. My girls still think I have another baby in my belly, ha! So I’m all about the usual suspects that I gravitated to during pregnancy, shift dresses and anything flowy. #3, #7, #8 (my favorite!) and #15 fit the bill quite nicely.
When it comes to holiday decorating, which team are you on? Team get it up early and enjoy it for months or team first things first, let’s get through Halloween and maybe even Thanksgiving. Mostly because I’m a procrastinator, I belong on the latter group. But this year on L. Avenue, we’re swinging early and often.
Because it’s our goal to bring y’all useful gift guides, style ideas and decorating inspiration, today’s as good a day as any to get the ball rolling. And because next week is Thanksgiving (OMG, what?!), even if your sporting the wait til’ after Turkey Day team colors, by the time you figure out your holiday decorating plans, it’ll be high time to trim the tree!
Here are a few of our favorite Christmas decorations from around the web.
A few of the things that made the list, I actually own. I break out the Williams Sonoma kitchen towels in red and green stripe every year. They are my favorite and add a little festive cheer to mundane kitchen cleaning chores. I also own Williams Sonoma’s plaid coffee mugs and even bought the girls a set for their version of coffee (chocolate milk!). Plaid mug coffee talk has now become a fun Christmas tradition of ours.
When it comes to decorating my house, there are two things I love to collect. The Nambe manger scene is one. My mother-in-law gifted this to me last Christmas and I love it. You can add a piece to the collation each year, but I love this grouping as a starter set. A great gift idea for someone you buy for every year. Like your mother-in- law. 🙂 I also recently started collecting these gorgeous Simon Pierce Christmas trees which look so pretty mixed in with small glass vases and Christmas stems on your table.
I’m hosting a few holiday parties this year and am planning to pull the trigger on these festive champagne flutes. And these cocktail napkins are so great. I tend to have more contemporary taste when it comes to things for the home but love mixing in more traditional pieces too. Especially around he holidays.
And I saved the best pick for last, as I’m all about snuggling up in this festive blanket with my new baby boy all season long!
Cheers to you and yours as we quickly approach the most wonderful time of the year!
