The tie front is trending y’all. I’m seeing the cutest shorts and pants subbing in belts for a fun little front tie and I’m loving it! Admittedly a skeptic to this trend at first glance, I ordered a budget friendly pair to give it a whirl and I’m now wearing these guys on the reg. I’m eyeing this pair of shorts for spring too but waiting patiently (for now) for a sale!
As y’all may already know (especially if you follow me in Insta Stories!), we recently bought a house! I’m still kind of sitting here in disbelief as I type that last sentence. We’ve lived in our current home since Leighton was born–6 years and 3 kids in this house, so it’s really hard to image our lives anywhere but our tiny little 1950’s ranch.
Lately, I’ve been pouring most of my energy into kitchen and bathroom renovation and figuring out how to make this new house a home. I want this house to feel like us. But what does that even mean? I’m probably overanalyzing, but it’s pretty fun doing so because that means lots of investigative research–scouring Pinterest, Insta and magazines during any minute of downtime I get.
I’ve been screenshooting and pinning lots of blush pink and am going to make sure there is at least one pink chair in the new abode. Perhaps as a desk chair or maybe even dining chairs?! I realize purple is the Pantone color of the year, but I’m thinking I’ll stay loyal to tried and true soft blush pink. What do y’all think? What color in your house has been a staple for decor?
I snagged this A.L.C piece at the annual Tootsies-takes-off sale and I’m kind of in love with it. It’s a great top that can easily transition to spring with white skinnies, a sandal and a blush bag.
It’s actually a dress in real life but is a bit short on me, so I’ll likely wear it as a top. Could totally work as a dress for some though, depending on how tall you are or how short a length you’re willing to rock. My rule of thumb is, “How short will this be while holding a toddler (which often causes your top/dress to ride up!).” Regardless, I love this neutral gem.
How are we already halfway through February? I’m grabbing sushi with girlfriends tonight and devoting tomorrow to honeymoon planning! Any recommendations for Italy and the coast of France are very welcome. Here are five reads for your weekend:
I realize Feb. 14 may be jumping the gun on thinking spring. When my friend Morgan posted this dress on her website, Shopburu, I decided to make an exception and dive into spring at once. I love the bold stripe, this dress is boho meets flirty prepster and as soon as temps break 70 I’m rocking it on the reg. I think it could look super chic with slide loafers until sandal season is among us. I’m heading to Mexico in a few months and think it would also be a great beach cover-up that works from beach to dinner.
Check out some other new season favorites by A Piece Apart on Shopburu, including more of this fab stripe print!
Denim skirts have definitely made a comeback. They’ve been on the scene in previous seasons, but this is the first time Im seeing the trend everywhere and seeing different styles, cuts and wash. I think a denim skirt is an easy outfit for those Spring days ahead. It pairs perfectly with a sweater for those cool mornings and easily transitions to a tee shirt or button-down as it warms up. Really anything goes.

How was the weekend guys? Ours was pretty low key, which is exactly what I needed after a whirlwind week that included new house demo, putting the current casa up for sale (any takers?!), two sick kiddos and a trip to urgent care. We slept in until 7:30 am which was major and didn’t get out of pj’s until 4 pm today. It felt good.
I found this sweater a while back and have worn it a lot, mostly with denim. I love the size zip detail, it’s just a great piece. I wanted the matching skirt but it’s a big of a splurge so have been stalking it for when it does on sale and guess what, it’s 60% off! I love me some monochromatic dressing. I’ve worn this getup mostly with these slides but it’s fun with booties too!
My birthday is Valentine’s eve, so I’ve loved the holiday from a young age. I like that it falls midweek this year, giving all of us a reason to celebrate the things and people we love on a Wednesday. I’ve gathered five gift ideas for your loved one(s). It’s not too late!
