I’m going to LA in two weekends to visit my friend Mimi who lives in Malibu. It was a last minute decision, but I’m so glad I made it. It will be a girl’s weekend through and through, and I can’t wait to kick off summer on the coast of California.
So, you can imagine my intrigue when the necktie trend took off. I got my first in San Francisco when I fell in love with a spin-off of the classic bandana pattern in a forest green, pale pink and marigold colorway.
I wore a yellow denim jacket as a bright addition to my Easter ensemble. Apparently, it’s the it color of spring, so I can’t wait to stock up on more.
My best friend found herself in a similar spot I did last year where she felt her job was robbing her of a great deal of daily joy. I feel fortunate enough to have found my dream job, and she just did too! Fill out this questionnaire to guide you toward yours.
Some of my best writing stints have been spurred by traveling to new cities. As summer approaches, plan a trip and perhaps you’ll find that putting pen to paper never felt so natural.
The name Elisabeth Epperson, a blonde baking blogger, will be one to know sooner rather than later.
Last week L. Avenue jumped the gun on the Saks Friends and Family event, which is happening NOW. We were just so eager to stock up on a few must haves that we missed during the Shopbop Friends and Family that we were a week early. Thankfully most of our picks are still available and of course we have added a few new things to our list. Happy Shopping!
In my world, wedding season seems to be year-round. Still, with back-to-back weddings coming up, they’re more on my mind than ever. This Friday, I’ve rounded up five links on one of my favorite festivities:
These iconic dresses still influence those of today. Whose your favorite?
Laura Mercier’s caviar stick is perfect to tuck into your clutch for a reception make-up touch up. But it now; the best colors sell out fast.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, L. Avenue giving away this beautiful clutch to one of our lucky Galentines!
Last Fall, L. Avenue discovered LumillaMingus, and of course I was thrilled at the opportunity to work with them. You may remember this post from the holidays where I am showcasing one of my favorite LM designs, which I’ve been carrying on the reg. Anyway, I immediately fell in love with Denmark designer, Lulu Johansen’s handbag skills. Her designs are well crafted and handmade right here at home, in Los Angeles. The designs spoke to my individual taste and accommodate the demands of my everyday life. This soft leather clutch is beautiful and needs a happy home.
More big baby news for L. Avenue! My brother and sister welcomed a little girl into the world this Wednesday. We love Eloise Jane already, and I can’t wait to watch her grow up with her big brother, Max. Here’s five links for reading this weekend:
Decorate :: Eloise will have a Palm Springs inspired nursery with this crib sheet. Seeing this girl’s room makes my imagination go wild for all the magical ways her room can evolve with this theme and color scheme.
Go :: I’m already salivating for a boozy brunch at Leo’s Oyster Bar on the San Francisco Bay for my birthday, but my next stop may be this whimsical café on the other side of the world.
Browse :: I feel as though I’ve found my British kindred spirit in Louise Roe, budding lifestyle blogger who happens to reside in the same city as my top two faves, Garance Doré and Emily Schuman. May have to pay a visit to LA!
Eat :: I recently discovered acclaimed Houston chef Chris Shepherd’s curated list of his favorite spots around town. WD and I tried London Sizzler, and it satisfied my saag paneer craving big time.
Shop :: I love the feminine edge of this biker jacket, and for the price, I wouldn’t feel bad for only wearing it on occasion in the mild Houston weather.
Looking forward to volunteering at tonight’s A Couture Cause and meeting some of you. Don’t be shy, and please say hi!
Hello, friends! To shake things up from my weekly Friday Five, I’m posting today instead. I often find I have more mindspace to fully digest good reads from around the web on the weekend, so I hope you can set aside some time today for these:
I’ve never owned a pair of truly high-waisted jeans, until now. This round-up encouraged me to order this pair (from none other than Abercrombie & Fitch) without trying them on, and for under $40, I have new favorites.
I’ll never quit loving New York, but I don’t know if I’ll ever live there like I always dreamed. This post instilled that sentiment all the more.
In light of this week’s headlining news, I found it timely to see Natalie Portman in Jackie this week with girlfriends. Her performance is stunning, and I loved the way the story was told, through her careful conversations with a journalist and priest.
Looking forward to joining Lyndsey and all the most stylish ladies about town at A Couture Cause this Thursday. I hope to see you there!
In reflecting on 2016 and resolving for 2017, I decided to come up with three words that defined the past year and three I wanted to shape this one. So, today’s Friday Five features articles to inspire my efforts toward those: better care, vaster knowledge and greater commitment in 2017.
Knowledge :: I’m digging deep into my make-up bag, removing the trash and adding treasures. First things first: this magical, mineral primer. I’ll be focusing on one product a month; I’d love to know your favorite finds.
Pardon My French is my new favorite podcast, and this episode, where my favorite Frenchie, Garance Doré, interviews Aussie Elle McPherson is the latest and greatest. A lesson from Elle on embracing beauty from the inside out:
When a woman smiles, she’s more beautiful and that comes from the inside. When her skin is good, because she’s eating well, that comes from the inside and it shows. When you’re a person who is happy in your life and motivated and inspired, it really shows on the outside. You can put as much creme on as you want, but if you’re miserable, it’s not going to make you beautiful!
With switching jobs and moving out last year, it was hard to break down my budget. In a more stable place now, I’m breaking down my budget and turning to guides like this one.
Commitment :: There’s overlap here, of course. Ultimately, my commitment to these habits daily, weekly or whatever it may be will have me looking back this December feeling as though these words did define 2017. Here are some good habits we all could have.
If you could define this year in three words, what would they be?
Is your calendar filled with holiday parties and festivities galore? ‘Tis the season! But you can’t show up to your festive events empty handed. L. Avenue is bringing you a gift guide to show your gratitude to your hostess with the mostess….
Another gift not pictured above is the gift of good wine. Who doesn’t love wine as a hostess gift? And how about a gift that gives back too? Well it’s a double rainbow with ONEHOPE wine. They give back a portion of their proceeds to charity, how cool is that?!
